KATHMANDU, Dec 23: The ruling UCPN (Maoist)´s spokesperson Agni Sapkota said Sunday it is unfortunate that the government has remained silent over the recent attack on the Nepal Republic Media office.

“After this incident happened, not only the communications minister but also the prime minster had to show concerns. I am surprised to see that such is not happening,” said Sapkota while he came to the Nagarik daily’s office to protest the attack. [break]

Sapkota also pledged that his party would voice for a prompt government probe into the incident. A group of hooligans, identifying themselves cadres of Shiva Sena, Thursday had stormed the NRM office and manhandled Nagarik daily chief editor Kishor Nepal and other journalists.

Nepal, also chief editor of Shukrabar weekly said the government has remained least bothered about the attack on the media. “Your party is in government. Now, we have begun to smell a rat why the government is showing indifference to the incident,” Nepal said.
