Govt accepts finance secy Khanal's resignation

KATHMANDU, April 13: The cabinet on Wednesday accepted the resignation of Finance Secretary Rameshwore Prasad Khanal, fifteen days after he put in his papers.



According to Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma, the cabinet meeting also promoted four joint secretaries -- Hari Nepal, Shridhar Gautam, Mukunda Khanal and Som Lal Subedi -- to the post of secretary. [break]



The cabinet also decided to effectively mobilize security forces in a bid to improve security situation across the country.



The government has formed a three-member panel led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rajendra Singh Bhandari to probe the recent attack on minister-designate Gokarna Bista.
