Government to grant Rs 900,000 each to quake-affected VDCs

KATHMANDU, May 1: The government is to grant Rs 900,000 each to quake-affected 253 VDCs of five districts.

Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MOFALD) is distributing the assistance amount in line with the 'Quake Affected Area focused Immediate Relief Assistance Operational Procedure-2072 BS'.


The government has come up with the immediate relief package of Rs 900,000 each in 253 VDCs of Sindhupalchowk, Gorkha, Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Dhading among the affected area.

Likewise, the Ministry is extending grant assistance of Rs 450,000 each in 242 VDCs of Lalitpur, Kavre, Dolakaha, Ramechhap and Sindhuli districts among other quake-ravaged area. According to MOFALD Spokesperson Purna Chandra Bhattarai, the Ministry has come up with the plan to provide Rs 200,000 each in ward of all municipalities of 11 out of 12 quake-hit districts.

Similarly, the Ministry has directed to provide support and relief as envisaged in Local Governance and Community Development Programme (LGCDP) programme through District Natural Disaster Relief Committee. The Ministry has also directed the municipalities and VDCs of the concerned districts to spend the amounts in their accounts for rescuing and relieving quake survivors. The period for this has been stipulated for a month. RSS
