The Constituent Assembly (CA) is set to promulgate the new constitution on September 20, which the major political parties have termed a red-letter day in the history of Nepal.
During a program held at the district headquarters on Friday, local leaders of all major political parties requested the public to mark Deepawali en masse. They have requested all the people, social organizations and government as well as nongovernment organizations (NGOs) to participate in lighting candles.Hari Bahadur Ghale, district secretary of Nepali Congress (NC), Gorkha, informed that the emergency meeting of the NC, CPN-UML, UCPN (Maoist), and Rastrya Prajatantra Party-Nepal have decided to mark Deepawali together in the district.
Bisheshwar Kattel, chairman of CPN-UML Gorkha, expressed happiness over the unity among major political forces. Amar Tamu of UCPN (Maoist) said that the new constitution has infused happiness not only among the political parties but also to the general public.
The political parties, entrepreneurs and various social organizations active in the district have also decided to start marking Deepawali from Friday to Monday.
