KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Price of gold crossed the Rs 50,000 per tola (11.664 grams) barrier in the domestic market again on Wednesday due to rise in price of the yellow metal in international bullion market.

Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Association (Negosida) fixed gold price at Rs 43,080 per 10 grams or Rs 50,248 per tola on Wednesday. The yellow metal was traded in the domestic market at Rs 42,440 per 10 grams on Tuesday.

Gold had hit record high of Rs 43,295 per 10 grams last week due to downturn in global stock market following downgrading of US credit rating by S&P.

Price of gold in the international market hovered around $1,787.39 per troy ounce on Wednesday, up from $1,785 recorded on Tuesday.
