Gold price surges above Rs 260,000 per tola

Gold is currently trading at Rs 260,700 per tola, up from Rs 258,800 on Sunday. Last Friday, the price had risen by Rs 2,200 and the day before, it had increased by Rs 3,500.

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: The price of gold in the domestic market has risen above Rs 260,000 per tola, continuing its upward trend. Compared to the previous day, the price increased by Rs 1,900, according to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders’ Association.



Gold is currently trading at Rs 260,700 per tola, up from Rs 258,800 on Sunday. Last Friday, the price had risen by Rs 2,200 and the day before, it had increased by Rs 3,500. At the beginning of the week, gold was priced at Rs 252,200 per tola. Overall, the price of gold has risen by Rs 17,400 in the month of Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December).

Silver is also trading higher at Rs 3,870 per tola, up by Rs 55 compared to Sunday, marking a Rs 715 increase over the month.


The surge is partly due to the strengthening of the US dollar in international markets. In Nepal, the dollar reached Rs 144.37, while gold is trading at USD 4,326.81 per ounce, up USD 28.09 in a single day. Silver is trading at USD 62.63 per ounce, having risen USD 11.05 over the past month.
