Ghunsa landslide puts settlement at risk

TAPLEJUNG, July 17: Incessant rainfall has triggered landslide in the mountainous Ghunsa village of Taplejung.



The landslide that fell from an altitude of 3,334 meters, has put the local Ghunsa Lower Secondary School at risk, the school’s teacher Khemraj Niraula said, adding that the settlement could also be under threat if the landslide kept growing.



This is the first instance of a landslide from the Ghunsa hill comprising 61 houses.
