Ghorahi Municipality tops evaluation

DANG, Aug 5: Ghorahi Municipality has stood first in the evaluation of the works carried out in the previous year by the 58 municipalities across the nation. In a similar evaluation, Ghorahi had stood second last year.



Out of 100 marks set for the evaluation, the Municipality got 87. As a result, the Municipality will receive an additional grant of around Rs 30 million this year. [break]



The Ministry for Local Development evaluates the works carried out by the municipalities in every fiscal year.



According to Acting Officer of the Municipality, Durga Dutta Sharma Dhakal, the Municipality achieved success as a result of the good works it carried out in different areas including project management, project formulation, transparency, sewage management and landfill site.



Talking to RSS, Mr Dhakal said people of the Municipality played a crucial role to achieve the success.



“We just worked as the facilitator, the rest was a result of the initiative of the local people”, he added.
