In the course of achieving third straight win for Nepal. Gauchan claimed (10-8-2-3) three wickets in his 10 over spell with eight maiden overs conceding three runs as Nepal bundled out host for 69 runs in 32.1 overs. [break]
In reply, Nepal easily surpassed the low total in 12.2 over. Opener batsmen pair of Anil Mandal (41) and Subask Khakurel (24) partnered for the easy victory over former coach Roy Luke Dias team.
"I didn´t think much about my performance before the game, but my objective was to bowl in the right area which I did during the game and it turned out to be my best bowling (economic) performance," said the Gauchan during the post match conference who was declared the man-of-the-match.
A win from the remaining two matches will ensure Nepal´s place in Division 3. Nepal is on the top of points table with six points after completion of three rounds while United States of America, Denmark and Singapore are between second to fourth place with two victories. Tanzania and host Malaysia have lost all the three matches.
Nepal will play against United States of America on Friday and Denmark on Sunday. Of the six teams participating in Division 4, top two will make it to the Division 3 and bottom two will be relegated to Division 5.
Left arm spinner Basanta Regmi claimed three wickets for Nepal in third consecutive match while Amrit Bhattarai pocketed two scalps. Binod Das and Sanjam Regmi took a wicket each. Regmi gave away 12 runs in his 8.1 over spell with three maiden overs. Similarly, Bhattarai conceded 19 runs in six overs spell with a maiden over. Das had the bowling figure of 5-1-28-1 and Regmi 3-0-6-1.
Anil Mandal guided Nepal to comprehensive win smashing 41 off 34 with six fences while Subask Khakurel garnered 24 runs facing 34 deliveries with four boundaries as Nepal achieved the target before lunch.
Shafiq Sharif (22), Ahmed Faiz (13) and H Ullah Khan (12) were the only batsmen for Malaysia who managed to reach double figure.
Skipper Paras Khadka was full of praise for Gauchan and the opening batsmen. "It was another great bowling display from the team, especially from Gauchan and the other opening pairs. Although we had a small target to chase, I am happy with the batting performance of the openers as they won the match for us convincingly. We still can´t relax after this win and will work hard to win the rest of our matches.”
Nepal had earlier defeated Malaysia and Tanzania.
Singapore, America triumph
Singapore and Unites States of America emerged victorious in the other matches of the Division 4 played in Malaysia on Thursday. Singapore defeated Malaysia by four wickets while America thumped Tanzania by seven wickets.
Batting first Denmark was bowled out for 173 runs in 46.3 overs at the Bayumas Oval. Singapore chased the moderate target in 46.4 overs with unbeaten 39 runs coming from the man-of-the-match declared Munish Arora.
At the Kinrara Academy Oval, America restricted Tanzania at the paltry total of 92 in 29.3 overs and achieved the target in nine overs. Man-of-the-match declared Usman Shuja of the US had the bowling figure of 6-1-14-3 while SM Tylor hammered 46 of 22 deliveries with four fours and four sixes.
