Gajurel claimed that leaders from the party´s dissident group led by Senior Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya were working in alliance with former royalists and other rightist elements against the ongoing peace process. [break]
"We had information about the conspiracy and so took a decision to conclude the integration process ahead of schedule," Gajurel, who is also in-charge of the Maoist party´s Kochila State Committee, said at an orientation program at Birtamod for cadres from the party´s establishment faction.
Maoist Chairman Dahal and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai decided to hand over the Maoist combatants, their weapons and cantonments to the national army on April 10, two days ahead of schedule.
"The radicals [Baidya faction] are hell bent on disrupting the constitution writing and peace process," said Gajurel, who devoted most of his speech to criticizing the party´s rival Baidya faction. "But now they can´t succeed in their plans."
Cadres in the district from the Baidya faction boycotted the function, which was organized by the Maoist party´s district chapter.
Representatives from the Baidya faction in the district argued that they boycotted the function as the party establishment had betrayed party rank and file in handing over the Maoist army and weapons against the party interest.
"And these leaders are traveling to various districts to get the same decision endorsed by the party organizations as well," said Kochila State Committee member Daya Ram Dahal, who is close to the Baidya faction. "We decided to boycott the gathering because we don´t want to endorse anti-party decisions."
Meanwhile, a key leader from the Baidya faction, Dev Gurung, has rubbished Gajurel´s accusation.
"The activities of the party chairman prove that it is he [Dahal] himself who is involved in such a conspiracy," Gurung told reporters in Chitwan. He accused the party chairman of failing to be objective while taking crucial decisions.
He claimed that the decision on army integration taken by the party establishment forced them to take to the streets. "We took to the streets because the decision was against the party policy and interest," he said.
