On November 27, 2002, the British Royal Court of Justice had ordered the British government to provide compensation to the families of the Nepali British soldiers, who had died fighting against Japan in WWII.
According to GAESO, during the historical wars, Gurkhas were used as human shields and many had died. But no authentic records of casualties have been maintained.
“The three day mass final rite was performed for those soldiers who have been forgotten despite their sacrifice,” added Gurung.
