Addressing the commissioning programme of the officer cadet integration basic training at the Military Academy in Kharipati, Bhaktapur on Monday, he said the Nepali Army is the common asset of the entire Nepali people and has thereby incorporated every region, class, ethnicity and religion into it. Stating that the army integration would make a significant contribution to realize the Nepali people´s aspiration for peace through peaceful transformation of the conflict, Chairman Regmi described the army integration as an ´important chapter of the peace process that began following the peaceful landing of the armed conflict´.
"Nepal´s peace process and the army integration is very unique to Nepal and Nepal´s army integration now stands as an important example before the international community", he said.
"At a time when the army integration, an integral part of peace process has beeen successfully completed, constitution writing, another fundamental aspect of the peace process, has been our top priority," stressed Chairman Regmi.
On the occasion, UCPN-Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara expressed happiness over the successful completion of the army integration, an important part of the peace process.
He said the integrated officers are now the Nepali Army, so they would now devote to the welfare of the nation.
Similarly, CPN-Maoist Vice-Chairman CP Gajurel said although our party was for an army integration that would retain the identity of the people´s liberation army, we were never against army integration.
CPN-UML leader Pradip Gyawali said the completion of the army integration was a significant achievement of the peace process and now it would strengthen the Nepali Army.
On the occasin, Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumser JB Rana said the Nepali Army has taken the army integration as an exemplary achievement.
