Freedom fighter dies

CHITWAN, Oct 10: Nepali Congress (NC) leader and democracy fighter Cheej Kumar Shrestha died at his residence in Chitwan on Saturday morning. He was 84.



His last rites were performed at Devghat in the afternoon. NC Acting President Sushil Koirala, who reached his residence to pay last tributes to him, wrapped his body with the party flag. Shrestha was involved in freedom struggle in 1951 and associated with the NC for long.



Issuing a press statement, the NC expressed sorrow over his demise.
