Free legal aid to foreign employment victims

KATHMANDU, Nov 5: A free legal assistance centre has been set up with the objective of providing support to the victims of foreign employment.



Chairperson of Foreign Employment Tribunal Meera Khadka inaugurated the legal help desk established by People Forum for Human Rights and an interaction on ‘Stakeholders’ Role in the Prevention of Cheating’ on Friday. [break]



The centre located at Kalikasthan of Kathmandu will provide free consultancy services on overseas employment, prepare applications for Department of Foreign Employment, Foreign Employment Tribunal and other agencies and conduct advocacy and lobby on behalf of victims.



Joint-secretary at the Ministry of Labour and Transport Management, Purna Chandra Bhattarai pointed out the need of bringing such help desk services to the victims of foreign employment at the grassroots level.



Chairperson of People Forum Som Luitel said there is no awareness that the government fights to provide justice to the victims of foreign employment.
