The nine-hour storm, unlike anything seen in the area, started at 4 a.m., blowing away the roofs of houses and schools and spreading panic among the locals. The storm also wrecked telephone and electricity lines at the village which is a day´s trek from district headquarters Chame, and caused damage of around Rs 3 million.
"The strange storm that started at four in the morning has wrecked 36 houses, completely destroying some six of them," Chief District Officer Ram Raj Subedi told myrepublica.com, adding that a police team was sent to assess the damage and carry out rescue work after the storm subsided at 1 pm.
