Four die of diarrhea, fever

TANAHUN, Aug 3: Four persons, including a child, have died of diarrhea and fever in Sirdibas village of Gorkha district in the past month.



Those dead are Anish Gurung, 17; Devin Gurung, 42, and Sundari Gurung, 46, of Sirdibas-7, Padigaun, and Bina Gurung, 8, of Sirdibas-1, Bhaluwan, said Dhan Bahadur Gurung, a local. [break]



Dhan Bahadur claimed people in almost every household in ward numbers 1 and 7 have fallen ill while the disease, which starts with headache and results in shivering and diarrhea, has also spread to ward numbers 2, 3, and 9.



Ram Kumar Gurung, another local, said the situation has also worsened due to lack of assistant health worker and medicines in the local health post.



Chief of District Public Health Office Dr Guna Raj Lohani said a five-member team with medicines has been sent to the village after receiving news of the deaths.
