He went on scribing and his piece turned out to be pretty long. He himself didn’t know how his writing was. He showed it to his parents who praised him a lot. He also showed the same writing to his teacher at school.[break]
"Wow, excellent,” his teacher complimented his work. He also received a suggestion, “It will be good if you can extend the writing a bit and turn it into a book,” his teacher said. Oscar also liked the idea and hence, wrote a new book entitled ‘James Wilson and the Treasure of Darkness’.
Originally from Pokhara, Oscar celebrated his 14th birthday on August 27 and on the same occasion, he also released his fourth book, ‘James Wilson and the Rise of the Dark’.
This is the fourth part of his first book series. “Currently, I am writing the fifth and the concluding part,” said Oscar who is a ninth grader at Budhanilkantha school in Kathmandu.
Oscar shares the he realized he had the knack for writing fiction when he was in grade four. He had participated in a fiction writing competition in school where he had written a story about the importance of helping animals. His story won the first place. “From then on, writing fiction became a hobby,” shares Oscar. After publishing his first book, he started reading other books. He has read books by authors such as Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Charles Dickinson and Paulo Coelho.
When he read the Harry Potter series, he felt that he should also write the sequels to James Wilson. Oscar’s mother Shanti Sapkota says that Oscar had already envisioned on writing five books in the series at that time.
“Now, I am focused on writing a happy ending for Wilson,” says Oscar. He aims to publish the fifth book in a year’s time. Apart from this, he has also readied one book from the comedy genre. However, he has not thought of publishing this 120 pages long book.
Oscar wants to try his hands at non-fiction writing after wrapping up the Wilson series. He has even made a general guideline for his upcoming non-fiction.
“I want to write a book on the life of people in the army,” he says, “This book is going to be a contemporary story about the factual incidents which took place in an army personnel’s life.”
Along with writing, he is also interested in sketching and painting. He is the illustrator of all the pictures which have been used in his book. He says that it is easier if he himself makes the pictures for his stories.

Oscar is quite popular amongst his friends too. They often praise his writing. “Oscar is an inspiration to all the students,” says Principal NP Sharma. He shares that
following Oscar’s example, his friends have also taken up story-writing. One of Oscar’s teachers, Homnath Acharya, says that he is also a good swimmer. “Because of him, our house stood first in the swimming competition,” says Acharya.
Oscar, who aims to be a professor in the future, is also into writing songs in English Language, Shanti shares.
He loves Michael Jackson’s songs and sings them well. “Since his voice is changing, he feels a bit shy when it comes to singing,” shares the teacher.
Oscar has a very serene nature and is fond of peaceful environments. When he returns home from the hostel, he watches a lot of animated
movies. He says that more than finding these movies interesting, he likes to watch animations because he gets a lot of ideas for his story characters.
“One can’t write whenever,” says he, adding, “It takes a lot of time to come up with ideas. Writing is just a matter of one or two hours.”
“He goes into the room to write and after an hour or two, he would have already finished writing 20 to 25 pages,” Shanti shares.
