The Bakery Café chain of restaurants celebrated their 11th annual extravaganza, Momo Mania 2012 at Bhrikuti Mandap Garden on Saturday to delight the Momo hungry crowd with more than 20 varieties of the dumpling.[break]
From traditional favorites such as chicken, mutton and vegetable momos to unconventional idea of dessert Momo including the fresh fruit momo coupled with chocolate sauce, khuwa momo with cinnamon applesauce, and the exciting gajar haluwa momo, the fest served it all.
Overwhelmed with the options available, Momo maniacs Mathias Johansen and Nirmala Gauchan, among the visitors shared they couldn’t decide on a single favorite.

“The mutton and pork momo were really good,” they shared. Momo Mania had the pork kothay, a Bakery Café original recipe and other exciting new style like the buff sichuan momo, tandoori chicken momo.
Apart from the momos the event also included special games and attractions for kids and families along with live performances by Kutumba, Ason’s Gun’la Bhaj’an Khala with traditional Newar drums, Kathak dancer Subima Shrestha, Everest Crew B-boys, and the award-winning Wushu player Ang Babu Lama.
The Momo Making and Momo Eating competitions were also highly popular. This year the Momo Eating winner was Karma Masala while Sujeeta Kansakar walked off winner for the Momo Making competition.
This year’s event saw a turn out of 2500 plus people. The next stop for the fest is at Nanglo West, Butwal and Nanglo West, Palpa on March 16 and 17 respectively.
