KATHMANDU, July 23: Vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission Dr Jagadish Chandra Pokharel on Thursday unveiled "The Food Security Atlas of Nepal"-- a report that depicts an overall understanding of food security situation in Nepal.

The report was jointly prepared by United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and the Nepal Development Research Institute (NDRI) under the supervision of the NPC -- the apex policy making body of the government.

The report covers all aspects of food security, poverty and malnutrition in Nepal in order to provide a guideline for developing a comprehensive national food security plan.

Speaking on the occasion, Pokharel stressed on the specific attention on particular issues of food security rather than generalizing the programs while implementing them.

Richard Ragan, country director for WFP-Nepal said better access to the food would help establish stability in the country.
