The building caught fire at around 7:30 in the morning. The fire was brought under control within an hour with the joint effort of Nepal Police (NP), Nepal Army (NA) and Armed Police Force (APF). [break]
According to the police, NBL was badly damaged by the fire compared to other offices situated at the building. Fifteen sets of computer, two sets of photocopy machines, six sets of printers and all the furniture of the NBL destroyed by the fire. Only two sections housing lockers and safe boxes were not affected by the fire.
Five lab technicians of Grande International Clinic (GIC), which is situated in the second floor of the building, were injured by the fire. Among the five lab technicians, four are women. All of them were taken to the Grande International Hospital of Dhapasi.
Fire brigades of all the three districts of the Valley -- Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur -- were mobilized in a bid to extinguish the fire. Along with the three districts, fire brigades of the NA, NP and AFP were also brought in to subdue the fire.
“We are thankful to all the people, especially to Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Armed Police Force personnel,” said Padma Jyoti, chairman of Jyoti Group, adding, “Because of them the massive fire was controlled and damages were minimized.”
