Ambassador of Finland to Nepal, Asko Lucadin gave information about this at a news conference here on Thursday.

According to Ambassador Lucadin, the Finnish Government formally decided to withdraw the project for being unacceptable to the Dangraha folks. It was not possible to implement the project without the participation of the locals, he said. Under the project, a waste processing center was to be established at Dangraha.

A process of the establishing the processing center was initiated with the investment of Rs. 130 million of the Government of Nepal whereas the Finnish Government was to allocate Rs. 440 million for the implementation of the project. The project was started in 2010 but remained stalled due to the protests of the locals.
