While National Idol remains closed from Thursday, three other schools were closed on Friday. The schools had to be shut down as dozens of students contracted viral fever and could not attend classes.

“Initially, only a few students contracted viral fever,” says Krishna Bhushal, Principal of National Idol Boarding School. “But we had to shut down the school after around 80 students contracted viral fever.”

Dozens of people affected by viral fever are now thronging local health posts and private clinics.

In Ranipani VDC, the locals have been complaining of lack of medicines.

Dr Sagar Rajbhandari at District Public Health Office, Balgung, said the locals should not consume contaminated water to avoid viral fever.
