Federal units would be revised, says DPM Gachchhadar

KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has said that delineation, structures and numbers of the provinces would be revised to address the ongoing Terai protest. He added that the constitution would be amended for the same.

Talking to media, after taking oath of office and secrecy at the President Office, Shital Niwas today, DPM Gachchhadar added that the right demands of Madhesi, Tharu and indigenous nationalities would be addressed and the numbers and border of the federal units might be revised.


He also recalled the eight-point agreement signed among the CPN-UML, UCPN (Maoist) and his party to amend the constitution right before the formation of the government.

Gachchhadar was of the view that constitution would be amended with the spirit of the 16-point deal reached among major political parties.

DPM Gachchhadar also expressed the confidence that the Nepali Congress would also agree in the constitution amendment process. RSS
