Ten men and seven women are in the protest fast. According to Kishor Kumar Bhandari, the refugees´ health has further deteriorated since Tuesday.
"The condition of Dhan Maya Bhusal, Sulochana Tamang and Chandra Chhetri has become critical," Bhandari added. Some health workers have been treating them. Their condition deteriorated following the extreme cold and lack of food and water. They are also suffering from abnormal blood pressure.
"Anything can happen any time as they have been without food and water. Those who don´t take food and water for more than 72 hours can undergo any sort of health problem," health assistant Phurba Lama said.
Lama further said the refugees might face severe problems because of abnormal blood pressure if they are not fed immediately.
Following the refugees´ protest, a meeting was held among Assistant Chief District Officer of Jhapa Lekhnath Pokherel, Shanischare camp supervisor Yagya Raj Niraula and representatives of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, but they failed to come up with any solid conclusion.
According to refugee Kishor Adhikary from the refugee camp at Beldangi, Jhapa, more refugees from camps 1,2 and 3 at Beldangi are also launching similar protests starting Thursday.
