The workshop was attended by people with diverse backgrounds that included young students and professionals. “We wanted a wide variety of participants to hear dynamic stream of thoughts on the subject which is why we did not specify any criteria for participation,” said Sanjeev Dahal, joint-secretary of Y-eelum.
The workshop aimed at providing a basic idea on program planning with the focus on outcomes not only through the presentation and lectures but also through games and interaction.
The workshop, according to the organizer, is an initial step to highlight Y-eelum’s objective to exist as a common platform for youth employment through youth-focused activities.
“We hope that this workshop will empower and build capacity of youth on entrepreneurial issues,” said Piya, the facilitator of the workshop, adding, “In doing so, we believe that youth will explore self-employment opportunities rather than just go abroad for securing their future and career.”
The participants prepared their own programs, reviewed peers’ plans and evaluated their potentials throughout the workshop.
“I found this workshop very refreshing and I had a great time,” said Kamal Raj Gosai, an active participant who is also the head of the department for Environment Science at Khwopa College. “I believe in youth power and these kinds of workshops empower youth and give them a level of confidence.”
Anuj Singh, a student, who participated in the event, echoed Gosai, saying, “I had an opportunity to learn something without getting bored. I had lots of fun.”
