SURKHET, Feb 12: Representatives of European Union (EU) on Saturday expressed their willingness to help rehabilitate those PLA combatants who do not want to be integrated in security agencies.

At a function organized here, EU ambassador Alexander Spachis and French ambassador Jean-Charles Demarquis said EU could help the Maoist combatants in providing them opportunities for gaining education and skill-based training or for becoming an entrepreneur.[break]

“We are ready to provide any kind of help in the army integration and rehabilitation process,” Spachis, who arrived here to monitor the implementation status of earlier assistance given to the disqualified combatants, said. “However, all concerned parties should be positive for the same.”

Likewise, Gillian Mellsop, UNICEF´s Nepal representative, said the UN agency was ready to provide educational help to the combatants after integration as well, adding about 10,000 children of Nepal have been provided with such a help.
