KATHMANDU, Sept 17: The meeting of the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee on Thursday called two ambassadorial nominees for their confirmation hearing on Sunday even though the representatives of four parties boycotted the meeting over inclusion issue.

The committee invited Foreign Secretary Gyan Chandra Acharya, who has been named Nepal´s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, and Pradumna Bikram Shah, who has been named ambassador to Brazil. No complaint was filed against the duo until Tuesday´s deadline.

Earlier, the Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Democratic), Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP), Samyukta Loktantrik Rastriya Morcha and Dalit Janajati Party walked out of the meeting called to discuss the date for hearing, saying that the ambassadorial nominations were not inclusive.

The committee then decided to write to the authorities concerned to ensure inclusiveness and proportionality while naming candidates for such positions.
