KATHMANDU, April 16: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday directed the government to ensure delineation of election constituencies before the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.

A single bench of Justice Girish Chandra Lal issued the order in response to writ petition filed by Rajlal Mandal of Saptari on behalf of former minister Jaya Prakash (JP) Gupta. [break]

The petitioner had sought the court’s intervention in the government’s move to announce date of CA elections without delineating election constituencies.

The writ petitioner had also demanded formation of Constituency Delimitation Commission as per the Article 154 of the interim constitution.
