KATHMANDU, Aug 30: After earning huge acclaims for its Nepali version, ‘Chakravyuh’ has finally expanded its reader base with the release of the book in the English language.

Based on the real life story of the serial killer, Charles Sobhraj, ‘Chakravyuh’ transports every reader into the world of crimes and makes one realize the instability of a criminal mind.

Writer Bishwa Lal Shrestha, who was a police officer during the time of murders committed by Sobhraj in Nepal, recalled his memories during the book launch held at Union House, Anamnagar on Friday. [break]

Speaking about his emotions back at 1976, when Sobhraj was brought in Nepal for his first judicial procedure, he mentioned, “My heart throbbed when I found out that Sobhraj’s hearing was postponed. Everyday I waited, but the wait was too long and it took 28 years for the killer to return to Nepal to hear his proceedings.”

Following the hearing of his life long imprisonment, Sobhraj lives in Kathmandu Central Jail. However, the writer believes that Sobhraj is transforming with the spiritual courses conducted in the jail and noting this aspect, Shrestha has even infused spirituality in his work.
