“Due to lack of emergency service, the locals were compelled to go to other districts or as far as to India for child delivery,” said Gunraj Awasthi, a senior doctor at the hospital. According to the doctor, the district had high child and maternal mortality rate as only the rich people could afford to deliver babies outside the district. “The emergency service will make a huge difference mainly for the poor,” he said.
