The fire has destroyed houses owned by Uma Gurung, Aaita Bahadur Limbu, Mani Limbu, Manoj Onchhongbo, Phurpa Sherpa, among others, according to the district police office of Taplejung.[break]
The fire was yet to be taken under control until Friday evening despite collective efforts by Nepal Army (NA), Nepal Police and the locals.
The police say they are still clueless as to what caused the fire.
