According to Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety, the commission will write a letter to the Interim Election Council regarding the issue Wednesday.
"We will instruct the Interim Election Council tomorrow (Wednesday) to distribute all relief only through government channel," Uprety told Republica, adding, "All kinds of relief must be released through the District Disaster Relief Committees (DDRCs) headed by the chief district officers in the districts." While maintaining that the flood victims should not be deprived of relief, the chief election commissioner stated that relief distribution must not affect the integrity and fairness of the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election scheduled for November 19.
Uprety further said that any relief should go into hands of the real victims but not to political parties. He maintained that reliefs either from individuals or any organization must go through the DDRCs.
The EC has enforced code of conduct for the November election from Monday.
