KATHMANDU, July 1: A day after Prime Minister Madhav Nepal tendered his resignation, Chief Secretary Madhav Ghimire on Thursday instructed all government secretaries not to work under pressure from care taker ministers.

“We have been instructed not to act under pressure from care taker ministers,” said a secretary on condition of anonymity. [break]

Ghimire also warned secretaries to be ready to face action if they conduct any illegal activities under such pressure, he said.

“We are permanent government employees and we should be answerable to all the decisions we take,” said the secretary quoting Ghimire.

Ghimire also urged the secretaries to run administrative activities even in the absence of their respective ministers.
