At a program organized on Friday on ´contribution of Dolakha to NTY 2011´, Pradhan said major tourism infrastructure are available in Dolakha including more than 250 small hotels and facility for home stay service. Kishore Thapa, secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, highlighted the importance of converting tourism resources into a complete product. He further requested the political parties not to organize any protests during the tourism year.
Prachanda Man Shrestha, chief executive officer of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), stressed on including tourism product of Dolakha in travel companies´ chain for successful promotion. There needs to be ownership of community and commercialization for tourism product, said Shrestha.
Yogendra Shakya, national coordinator of NTY 2011, proposed a three-day tour of investors, businessmen and bureaucrats to Dolakha to strengthen the possibility of investment in tourism infrastructure. According to him, the task of development of tourism destinations should be carried out by the private sector.
Devi Khadka, Maoist CA member from Dolakha, called for unity among the district level leaderships of different parties. Ananda Pokharel, a UML leader, and resource expert Shyam Basnet presented papers on tourism and resources of Dolakha, respectively.
