Documentary on world record-holder Nepali athlete

KATHMANDU, Aug. 13: A documentary based on the life of long distance runner Hari Bahadur Rokaya has been released here today.



The documentary has been directed by media persons Jaya Narayan Shah and TS Thakuri. The documentary has been shot by Ramesh Malla and edited by Shiva Puri.



The documentary includes the incident of Rokaya, a person from the remote mountainous district Jumla, becoming successful in having his name included in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2005 by winning a gold medal in the Everest Marathon, the marathon held at the highest altitude in the world.



Speaking in the documentary release programme, Rokaya said that he would continue to work for the promotion of games for promoting national dignity.



He said that he has opened the Karnali Athletics Club in his home district of Jumla for training athletes.



Member Secretary of the National Sports Council Yubaraj Lama, Olympic medalist Deepak Bista and Sangina Baidya and cine artist Karishma Manandhar, among others, jointly launched the documentary. The documentary was made at a total cost of Rs 708,318.
