Diplomats pay courtesy call on Speaker Gharti

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Various Kathmandu-based diplomats have paid courtesy call on the newly elected Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar on Wednesday.



Ambassador of the United States of America to Nepal Alaina B Teplitz, Australian Ambassador to Nepal Gleen While, and Pakistani Ambassador to Nepal Arshed Saud Khosa held separate meetings with speaker Gharti Magar at the latter's office.

Congratulating Gharti Magar for being elected as the first female speaker of the Nepalese parliament, Teplitz pledged to provide essential support for the implementation of the new constitution.


In the meeting, Gharti Magar said that she would give top priority to the bill on Reconstruction Authority and will endorse it once it is tabled at the parliament. Similarly, in another two separate meetings, Australian Ambassador While and Pakistani Ambassador Khosa congratulated the speaker. They discussed about contemporary political issues of Nepal and expressed their desire to maintain strong parliamentary relations with Nepal.
