KATHMANDU, March 31: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has decided to award human rights activist Bidya Rajbhandari and Matrika Prasad Devkota with the Dayaram Pariyar Memorial Human Rights Award. Rajbhandari is a human rights activist from Bhaktapur while Devkota is from Gorkha district.

According to NHRC Chairman Anup Raj Sharma, the award will be handed over to them on May 27, the anniversary of NHRC. NHRC has been awarding human rights activists every year. The award has been established in the memory of Pariyar, who was killed in police firing in Janakpur nine years ago.
