Dahal said he is optimistic about the parties’ reaching consensus especially because the High Level Political Committee has Monday morning decided to engage in talks with the parties. [break]
“The HLPC has decided to hold talks between agitating parties leaders and the top brass of the four major political parties, both formally and informally,” Dahal told reporters at Biratnagar airport. “They will agree to participate in the elections,” he added.
Stating that an election atmosphere is gradually forming, Dahal said the dissenting parties’ ‘genuine’ demands will be met, but quickly added that neither will Chairman of Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi resign as chief justice nor the HLPC be dissolved.
Dahal said: “Rather efforts are being made to bring agitating parties to the HPLC.” Dahal arrived in Biratnagar on his way to Jumka, Sunsari where he is scheduled to inaugurate a Tharu film festival.
