Speaking at a party function organized at Barmajhiya, Dhanusha on Sunday, Dahal said, "Being a son of Madhes myself, I am going to contest the elections from Mithila." He said that he will strongly raise the issues of Madhes and fight for Madhes cause in Kathmandu. [break]
He further said that it was Kamal Sah of Dhanusha who taught him bomb-making skills during the Maoist insurgency. "From now onward, I will always work and stand for the cause of Madhes," said Dahal, adding that his party started struggle to establish republic and federalism and both will be entrenched through the new Constituent Assembly.
He also said that his party always stands for identity-based federalism and a federal constitution. "Please support the UCPN (Maoist) in the elections and I guarantee you both identity-based federalism and federal constitution."
He further claimed that the fresh CA would draft the new constitution within six months.
On a different note, he claimed that he was continuously raising the developmental issues of Madhes during his visits to both India and China. "During my earlier visits, I had requested India to construct east-west railway and postal highway," he said, claiming that he is fully committed to Madhes development.
In the last CA polls in 2008, Dahal was elected from two constituencies -- one from Kirtipur and the other from Rolpa.
The latest census shows that over 50 percent of the country´s population lives in the Tarai.
