Sapkota informed there will be a three-party meeting between NC, UML and the Maoist Wednesday morning. “It was a bilateral meeting today. We are sitting for tri-party meeting Wednesday morning,” he said.
According to Sapkota, Dahal held discussions with Koirala on all issues of contention including the change of government, reviving Constituent Assembly and fresh elections. “But we have not yet reached to any conclusion,” he said.
NC Spokesperson Dilendra Badu said the talks between the two leaders were positive. “There has been an understanding to expedite talks and arrive at consensus to resolve the deadlock,” he said, adding that Dahal has positively responded to our demand that ruling parties should create an environment of national consensus.
Dahal then called on President Yadav in Shital Niwas. Sources said Dahal assured the president that since they had started negotiations, there will be a consensus among parties within next few days.
The president told Dahal that he would not take any steps without consensus among political parties. He also urged the parties to reach consensus at the earliest. “President put his concerns with Dahal about his efforts to forge consensus and ongoing deadlock in the country,” said the president´s press advisor Rajendra Dahal.
Sources said the president had expressed his dissatisfaction over the government´s move to bring in more and more ordinances instead of forging consensus to resolve the deadlock.
