Dabur Teej Festival at UWTC

KATHMANDU, July 28: Dabur Special Teej festival 2011 -- a trade fair showcasing and selling accessories for women during the festival of Teej -- has kicked off at United World Trade Center (UWTC) Thursday.



The fair organized by Women´s Creation Center is the 10th annual edition and will continue till July 31. CNN Hero 2010 Annuradha Koirala and General Advocate for Women´s Rights Chadani Joshi jointly inaugurated the festival that is participated by women entrepreneurs and housewives from different parts of the country.[break]



The festival has over 110 stalls of various products like handicraft items, sarees and kurtas, gift items, jewelries, home appliances, mobile phone sets and Teej souvenirs, said Milu Thapa, coordinator of the event. The festival also features domestically produced food items prepared by housewives.



WCC is also organizing Teej Special Fashion show on the premises of UWTC on the last day of the festival on July 31.



The organizer has set entry fee of Rs 20 which includes a complimentary 200 ml Dabur juice. Over 1.5 million people are expected to visit the festival.



“We will spend 15 percent of the total income earned through the event for organizing capacity-building and skill development trainings for housewives,” said Thapa.



Dabur Special Hair Oil is the main sponsor of the event. Its co-sponsors are Rahul Dairy Whitener, Maiti Nepal, Nepal Tourism Board, NCC Bank, UWTC, Subisu Cablenet, ECS Media, Yeti Holidays, Chaitanya Spa, NB Bank and Commerz and Trust Bank, among others.
