KATHMANDU, June 5: The Chandbagh School organized a bicycle rally on Tuesday marking the World Environment Day.
The school held the rally to raise public awareness on the importance of environmental conservation and using environmentally sustainable mode of transportation.[break]
One hundred and thirty people comprising students, teachers and former students of the school participated in the bicycle rally that began from the school compound.
It passed through local Kapan Marga, Narayangopal Chowk, Dhumbarahi, Mandikhatar, Golfutar and Bansbari and concluded upon reaching the school.
Similarly, the Private and Boarding Schools´ Organization Nepal (PABSON) also organized a rally this morning on the occasion.
According to the PABSON, the rally was organized to make aware to the locals to keep rivers of Kathmandu valley clean and green, and for the conservation of environment.
The rally started from Kalikasthan and converged into an assembly after reaching at the same place by encircling different parts of the city.
Different representatives of organizations concerned, school and college students were present in the rally.
On the occasion, Chairman of the PABSON, Dr Baburam Pokharel stressed that the government should launch a special campaign and give continuity to keep environment of the valley clean.
