KATHMANDU, Oct 10: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is set to organize the Super League Cricket Tournament (50-over) in the capital from Sunday to select players for the two List A matches of the ICC World Cricket League Championship (WCLC) against Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Nepal is set to play two 50-over matches against PNG of the second round of the WCLC on November 16 and 18 in UAE. CAN decided to organize the Super League after failing to organize senior national tournament. "We failed to organize the national tournament due to the crisis seen in the capital," said CAN Acting General Secretary Uttam Karmacharya.

As per the press release issued by CAN on Friday, altogether 60 players, 22 contracted and best players from all regions, will be divided into five groups. CAN had contracted 22 players last year for the first time in its history.

CAN has failed to organize selection tournaments on various occasions lately, including for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers held in Scotland and Ireland, the ACC U-19 Premier League held in Malaysia and the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers slated for October 15-22 in Malaysia.
