Court interim order on CAN decision

KATHMANDU, June 21: Patan Appellate Court has issued an interim order not to execute the National Sports Council's decision on withdrawing nomination of two members of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).



A division bench of Judges Mohan Bahadur Karki and Krishna Prasad Bastola issued the order stating that the two members were not given a chance of clarification and the decision to remove them from CAN should not be executed until the final verdict as per the principle of balance of convenience.

Following NSC decision to remove Deepak Saud and Ranjeet Tamang from the CAN executive committee, the duo had moved the appellate court.


Newly appointed National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Sakuntala Nagarkoti had sent letters to CAN stating Saud and Tamang were removed from their positions.


She had taken the decision soon after she was appointed NSC Member Secretary on June 15. Deepak Saud and Ranjit Tamang were appointed as the CAN members by former member secretary Yubaraj Lama on 11th March, 2012 and 14th February 2013 respectively.
