Nepali Congress (NC) is committed towards maintaining peace in the country through a democratic constitution but the Maoists have continuously been disrupting the process, he said. [break]
While speaking to representatives of NRNA, UK at Nepali embassy in London, Koirala added that its Maoist tendency to refrain from implementing the deals previously agreed upon by them. He accused the Maoists of being hungry for power and wealth.
Koirala expressed his firm belief in reaching consensus with the other parties soon.
He also said that first priority should be given to peace process and constitution writing process and opined that the peace process should come to a logical end paving way for the new constitution.
When asked about the issue raised by the NRNA UK about dual citizenship, he said that its demands are logical but due to the political crisis in Nepal the issue has been over shadowed.
During the occasion NRNA President Surya Gurung requested Koirala to keep a open mind towards the issue.
Before this Koirala had met representatives of Federation of Nepali Journalists UK and had discussed contemporary political issues. Koirala who was in United States for treatment is currently in UK and planning on leaving for Germany on Monday.
