RAJBIRAJ, March 17: Nepali Congress leader Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat claimed that the country is teetering on the brink of crisis due to the Unified CPN (Maoist).

"The Maoist party is not honest towards the peace process. Therefore, the country has been trapped in crisis," he said speaking at a press meet in Rajbiraj on Thursday.[break]

"The Maoist is trampling on each and every agreement and accord thinking that it can launch a revolt if the new constitution misses the extended deadline," he said.

Saying that the Maoist belief to keep its army with a separate identity is against the peace agreement, he said, "The tendency to ignore pluralism even after the end of the conflict is totalitarianism. This will kill democracy."

Mahat, also a member of the Special Committee for integration, rehabilitation and supervision of People´s Liberation Army combatants, accused the Maoist party of trying to create obstacle for the completion of the peace process and constitution drafting.

On the visits of Madhesi leaders to India and Maoist chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal to Singapore, he said this is a signal of foreign interference.
