Cops, students clash; 5 injured

MAHENDRANAGAR, July 26: Five, including four students and a local, were injured in clashes between students and cops in Mahendranagar on Tuesday after the students resorted to protests over absence of budget allocation for Far West University.



Students in Kanchanpur have been protesting over the issue for a week.



On Tuesday, there were clashes between students and police at various places in Mahendranagar. [break]



Manoj Chand, a former unit chairman of Nepal Students Union at Siddhanath Multiple Campus and Kailash Chand, former district vice-president of the union were, injured after being hit by tear gas canisters fired by police. Of the two, Manoj has serious injuries.



Similarly, Gokarna Chand and Lokendra Dhanuk, who are students of Siddhanath Multiple Campus, have also been injured, apart from Dhan Bahadur Chand, resident of Bhimdutta-6.
