DANG, Aug 27: Finance Minister and UCPN (Maoist) leader Barsha Man Pun said on Monday that Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai would not tender his resignation before consensus is forged among the political parties and added that it is irrelevant to seek an alternative to the incumbent government before striking consensus.

Speaking to media persons at a program in Ghorahi today, Minister Pun said opposition parties´ dream to oust PM Bhattarai through street protest would not be possible. "The attempt to oust the PM from street will be futile as no prime minister can be unseated through such protests," Pun reiterated. [break]

He also urged the opposition parties to focus on forging consensus. Pun also claimed that the current government will be replaced only after the political parties agree on the key issues of the new constitution. "Merely by clamoring for resignation is not good," he added.

He advised the opposition parties to concentrate on constitution rather than replacing the government. In a different context, Pun said that the government is planning to forward new ordinances to President Ram Baran Yadav, after seeking consensus with other parties.
