The event to be held at the covered hall of National Sports Council will feature six teams in men´s section and four teams in women´s section. "A team can field four foreign players in its squad," said Jeetendra Bahadur Chand, the general secretary of NVA, during a press conference organized in the capital on Sunday.[break]
"A former player of Iran´s national women´s team and a male player who had featured in national level tournament have almost confirmed participation in the event," said Chand. "New Diamond Academy has shown interest to include the Iranian female player. It will be confirmed soon after her trial." Meanwhile, G4 Sports Club is preparing to hire Indian players in the men´s squad.
Three departmental teams -- Nepal Police Club, Nepal Army Club and Armed Police Force (APF) -- University Team, G4 Sports Club and Western Regional Volleyball Training Center will compete in the men´s section.
According to NVA, the best teams of NVA Cup Volleyball were included in the league. The women´s section will feature Nepal Police Club, Armed Police Force, New Diamond Academy and Western Regional Volleyball Training Center.
The top three finishers at the end of the league will be awarded with Rs 150,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. The best player will be awarded with Rs 25,000. Similarly, best players in five positions will get Rs 5,000 each.
The league tournament is the last event of the calendar year. Meanwhile, NVA President Dan Bahadur Tamang claimed that the association organized the highest number of events during the current year. "We are trying to make this tournament a grand success as it is the last event of the calendar," said Tamang, adding, "We organized 13 men´s and 11 women´s tournaments during the year."
