KATHMANDU, March 21: A western low-pressure system coupled with local winds has left much of Nepal under a blanket of clouds, with unstable weather expected to persist through the day.
From the Terai plains to the hills and mountains across Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, skies remain largely overcast.
Thunderstorms forecast till Thursday
The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) said some areas in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, along with a few pockets elsewhere, are already witnessing moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Conditions are likely to intensify this afternoon, with widespread cloud cover across the country. Many places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces may see moderate rain or snowfall, along with thunder, lightning, hail and gusty winds. A few locations in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces are also expected to experience similar weather.
By tonight, cloudy conditions will persist, though rainfall is expected to ease. Light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the mountainous region of Koshi Province and at isolated locations in other hilly areas, the MFD said.
